If you read my post about my metal journey then you will not be surprised that a Metallica post would be on the way. Metallica is possibly my favorite metal band, (metal band post foreshadow). So I thought it best to make an album ranking post in honor of the metal giant that is Metallica! So please enjoy, or despise, my Top 5 Metallica albums of all time.

5. Death Magnetic (2008)

  • Favorite Track: End of the Line
  • Rating: 10/12

I may get some serious heat for this first pick but that’s okay, I’ll survive. I feel as though this album gets alot of shit from people that heard it once and wrote it off. If you go track by track and fully listen, my god there are jams all over this thing. The solos are top tier, the riffs are groovy but kickass and it was a great way to comeback after St. Anger.

4. …And Justice For All (1988)

  • Favorite Track: …And Justice For All
  • Rating: 11/12

To comeback after the tragic loss of Cliff with this all time album is just incredible. The progressive elements of this set it apart from the others. The superb drumming of Lars is everywhere here and the lyrics are metal as shit. Couple that with a classic like One and true thrash tracks like Dyers Eve and you get a metal masterpiece.

3. Black Album (1991)

  • Favorite Track: Wherever I May Roam
  • Rating: 11.5/12

Everyone on the planet knows Enter Sandman but less know just how epic this album is. The B side alone is filled with tracks for a headbanger’s delight such as The Struggle Within. The album also has two tracks personal to me in Roam and Holier Than Thou. Top to bottom an amazing piece of metal history!

2. Ride the Lightning (1984)

  • Favorite Track: Creeping Death
  • Rating: 11.5/12

A sophomore album fit for the kings of metal. After an excellent and raw debut, Metallica came back with one hell of a haymaker. A mix of unforgettable melodies and fantastic lyrical storytelling are what make this thing shine. To turn biblical scripture into metal history is something I simply can’t overlook!

1.Master of Puppets (1986)

  • Favorite Track: Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
  • Rating 12/12

So let it be written so let it be done Master of Puppets you are the chosen One. This album is just perfection, every song, every riff, just perfect. They refined their sound, kept their aggression and forged not only their greatest album but possibly the greatest metal album of all time.

If you made it this far, I thank you for being here and I wish you the best. All comments are welcome below, enjoy the Haven Geeks!
